Acclaimed Japanese dream-pop artist Cuushe shares how producer and DJ Ametsub relentlessly stalked and harassed her

Japanese musician Cuushe wrote a Facebook post this week outlining the torment she has been subjected to at the hands of producer and DJ Akihito Saitoh, who goes by the moniker Ametsub. Ametsub is a popular musician in the underground electronic scene, with his acclaimed album ‘The Nothings of The North’ chosen as Best Disk in 2009 by Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as playing alongside a slew of internationally recognised and loved musicians such as Plaid, Actress, Tim Hecker, Floating Points, Bonobo, and many more. Cuushe, a multi-talented artist who has been supported by international tastemakers such as Dazed and Confused, The 405 and The Guardian, came forward just this week to open up to fans, friends, family and the online music community that the artist known as Ametsub, “repeatedly broke into my bedroom, physically destroyed my work (my art and livelihood), launched an extreme harassment campaign to sexually humiliate me online, and caused me to live in constant terror for my safety since mid-2017.”

Cuushe has been inactive on social media for the duration of her traumatising experience, but has broken the silence in order to tell the truth about her story. Cuushe explains, “I hope that sharing my story can bring more awareness to some of the legal and societal challenges that victims of stalking and abuse still face, and help us build towards a society that supports and empathizes with victims of this kind of abuse.”
