Analogue emulation experts Arturia have just announced an off-shoot from their DrumBrute range, but this time with more kick and less price: the DrumBrute Impact. This baby will be officially available in August for a sweet $349, as opposed to the original DrumBrute’s price of $499. This is exciting news for budding producers as this piece of equipment is designed to be more affordable and transportable, while maintaining instant analogue satisfaction and versatility of sound.
New features of the DrumBrute Impact, when compared to its more expensive predecessor, include an FM drum voice, nine new drum sounds and a new ‘Colour’ feature. This new ‘Colour’ feature allows the user to create ‘Colour’ sequences, like the automation of tonal changes, for ease of access and creation your own unique sounds. For really grimy electronic sounds, there is also a crunchy built-in distortion that makes the drum sounds really kick. Successful American techno producer Kenny Larkin gave the new piece of gear big kudos, saying , “Don’t let the small size fool you, the sound of this thing is massive! The redesigned engine is amazing. Add in the distortion, and it’s on another level!”
