Bicep – Water

Electronic music duo Bicep have been on a hot streak of live shows lately. Perhaps the secret to the success of whatever Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar have been doing has something to do with their penchant for dropping easter eggs and unreleased tracks into the mix. One in particular, Water, has become a fast fan favourite since flooding their Glastonbury show, and now that track is finally receiving an official release.

Featuring Clara La San, Water is a buzzy kick and synth led track that locates itself firmly in the current UK club sound revival. Working with a backbone of shimmery UKG breakbeats, Bicep layer driving four on the floor kicks, glowing arpeggios, and ripcord synths to create an ever ascending sense of euphoria. La San’s gentle, saccharine vocals recall the ecstasy of 90’s rave and jungle, the perfect foil for Bicep’s quivering beat making. Released with Waterfall, an instrumental version of the track, as its B-side, Water is a testament to Bicep’s recent renaissance that leaves us thirsting for whatever may come next.
