Remix superstar Crookers has just shared a remix of powerhouse Mavi Phoenix’s single ‘LOS SANTOS’. Listen to the track below while you read about this collaboration.

Austrian electronic music heroine Mavi Phoenix made her track ‘LOS SANTOS’ in June, as a way to oppose the toxic culture of internet mob mentality and to give all the abusive online ‘trolls’ the middle finger. This artist has an extremely diverse music style, ranging from dark hip-hop to breezy electronica and this is a particularly powerful track, with the musician clearly standing up for herself and celebrating her individuality. The song caught the attention of many, including platinum selling Italian DJ/ Producer Crookers, who has racked up over 62 million streams on Spotify as well as support from respected music publications such as Pitchfork and XLR8R. Mavi Phoenix is also carving out a space for herself in the electronic music scene, boasting over 4.5 million streams on Spotify, and has performed at multiple European festivals already, including The Great Escape, Primavera Sound, Roskilde and Melt!. Her work so far has caught the attention of international tastemakers such as i-D, Nylon, The Line of Best Fit, The Fader, Highsnobiety, Red Bull Music, Clash Mag, Wonderland Mag, Majestic Casual and COLORS who hosted a performance of her single ‘Yellow’.

Crookers have taken Mavi Phoenix’s anthemic single to the next level with their remix while keeping the original message of the track crystal clear. The remix turns up the heat on the presence of the drums and gives the listener a great bassy kick to dance to; the track reinforces what Mavi Phoenix believes about standing up for what you believe in and making something your own, just as Crookers have made the track their own by putting their unique spin on it. Mavi Phoenix reflects that, “Bullies are present everywhere in our lives, from the playground to adult life. I think the Crookers’ remake of ‘Los Santos’ strengthens my message not to care too much about it, show them the middle finger and keep on doing your thing and live your way“.

It’s refreshing to see an artist standing up against the boorish internet culture that we’ve become so used to, plus, it’s great to have firm favourites Crookers get on board and support Mavi Phoenix’s message, as well as her music.
