ELIS NOA – I Was Just About To Leave LP
ELIS NOA’s sophomore LP, I Was Just About To Leave strips down the process of letting go and lays it bare, dissecting each point of frustration and creating their own little interlude for it. Released today via Las Vegas Records, the album was created to describe the journey of closure and the intimate and bumpy moments that come with it. The album opens on a bitter note with ‘Sorry’, almost pushing the listener away with its brutish honesty. As we step into ‘Weights’, the listener is given a bit more background, revealing that draining feeling that can accompany avoidancy and indecision.

‘Make Me Think Of You’ is currently one of the pair’s most popular tracks as it describes the perspective of someone wishing to make another see their own worth. ‘Mad About You’ has just been paired with a striking music video which radiates anger. ‘I Don’t Like It Here’ explores that saddening point of realisation when you understand that the relationship is failing and you don’t care enough to keep it alive. The atmospheric track is complemented by the following metaphorical poem. ‘Options’ draws the album to a close on a lighter note: it’s time to explore the paths for the future and none do it better than ELIS NOA and their elegant sound.
“I Was Just About To Leave is a concept album. We wanted to describe the process of letting go and the journey that comes with that. Each song of the album musically explores every step of that process, from moments of resistance all the way to acceptance. Letting go of a person, a job, a friendship, an idea or a fantasy, doesn’t happen in a singular moment. It usually takes time, there is a lot of back and forth that happens before you decide to move and maybe open up for something new. “I Was Just About To Leave“ is a sentence many of us use to calm ourselves, even though we know it’s still a long road ahead.” – The pair give us a breakdown of what the album really means.
