English translation of techno bible ‘Der Klang Der Familie’ to be released in November

An English translation of Der Klang Der Familie (The Sound of Family) – a book chronicling the meteoric rise of Berlin techno since the fall of the Berlin wall – is set for release in November, two years after its initial German publication.

Written by Felix Denk and DJ Sven Von Thülen (AKA Sven VT), the book discusses the growth of the Berlin techno scene in the context of the chaos surrounding the fall of the wall. The abundance of disused spaces in East Berlin’s no man’s land gave rise to underground raves and secret studios, leading to the DIY dynamism German techno needed to grow into the ubiquitous entity it is today.

The book also details how techno culture united the youth of East and West Germany, healing the scars left by forty-five years of Soviet occupation.

Previously only available in the original German or a French translation, the English version of Der Klang Der Familie will be on sale November 9^th to coincide with the 25^th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
