There’s a light in the center of the woods

A bright fire seen through the trees

We’re around it gazing into the flames

She’s brought us here

A bell chimes

She’s asking you to come as well

We’ve heard her voice since the beginning

And You’ve been listening your entire life

She’s calling

Poem by Octo Octa

In her latest EP ‘She’s Calling’ American producer and DJ Maya Bouldry-Morrison – known under her musical alias Octo Octa; the artist explores the deep connections between dance music and manner in which we can use the genre to get into touch with ourselves and nature, emphasising the genuine expression of dance music as a form of connection both internal, and external.

With each track on ‘She’s Calling’ the artist uses her prowess in sculpting compelling house music – rich with a steady rhythmic swirl in a ritualistic-esque daze – to create an incredibly trance-like experience as the fast-paced tempo of ‘Goddess Calling’ and ‘Find Your Way Home’ showcase textural electronics in a bewitching, hypnotic drive.

Swift percussion and repetitive beats engulfs the listeners in a mesmerising atmosphere. In ‘Spell For Nature’ the percussive elements drive the track forward; in an ethereal moment of self-discovery, Octo Octa adds in her own words associated with finding herself in a revelatory, deeply introspective experience expressed through her unique sound.
