Erasure Announce ‘Sometimes’ Rework And 30th Anniversary Compilation
In celebration of their 30th anniversary, influential UK electronic pop duo Erasure will release an update of their classic 1986 single ‘Sometimes’ on October 23rd to be followed by new compilation ‘Always – The Very Best Of Erasure’ on October 30th. Both will be released via Mute/BMG.
Formed by former Depeche Mode synth maestro Vince Clarke and flamboyant vocalist Andy Bell in 1985, Erasure have scored themselves BRIT and Ivor Novello awards plus five UK Number 1’s and 17 top 10 singles. The single disc version of ‘Always’ will focus on the hits, including ‘Who Needs Love Like That’, ‘A Little Respect’, ‘Blue Savannah’, ‘Take A Chance On Me’, ‘Love To Hate You’ and ‘Oh L’Amour’ plus the new version of ‘Sometimes’. The deluxe CD edition will feature an additional pair of discs featuring classic remixes from electronic artists Moby, William Orbit, The Grid (Richard Norris & Dave Ball of Soft Cell) plus fresh versions from Grumbling Fur, GRN and Vince Clarke himself.
Daniel O’Sullivan of acclaimed London based psychedelic duo Grumbling Fur (whose ‘Preternaturals’ album of last year bore the influence of Vince Clarke) says, “We reworked ‘The Circus’. Replaced the oompah for oomska! Flat, chromed panels of synth hovering on axis above diaphanous field recordings of summer rain in the suburbs. Heavy on reverse. Reshaping cultural DNA and contorting childhood memories.”
