Interview: 5 minutes with Sex of Insects
We catch up with the musings of duo Sex of Insects, a unique alternative music band, which was born in the consciousness of people, who are infinitely devoted to art.
To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?
Psychedelic pop/rock/dance – just hypnotic.
Which artists are you into at the moment and why?
HVOB. why? Sounds good!
Are there any key pieces of equipment that you are using to define your sound?
“Cry baby” guitar pedal and “h” delay and heaven bells.
What would you say some of the challenges artists face today in the music industry?
Too many projects. Good projects. You have just one chance to be yourself.
Where do you gather songwriting inspiration?
Just switch on the guitar and a mic. It’s here, take it.
Take us through your songwriting process. Are there any particular steps you take when putting your music together?
Rhythm. Guitar layers. Vocal. Shake it before gettin’ the foam.
What’s the best gig you have ever done and why?
I remember 1963. Well, last week in Swan Lake Gorky Park was raining hard and diamonds were falling down from the umbrellas
And the worst?
There was one, but we will not tell you, cause we want to play there again.
If you weren’t a musician what would you be?
Would be doing business, no matter which one. Just doing.
Do you have any particular gigs or festivals that you dream about playing?
Primavera. Burning Man and any in Iceland for the whales.
If you could perform alongside any other band or artist, living or dead, who would it be?
Underworld.
