We find out more about this charming band in the interview below.
Set the tone for us. Why the arts?
Art is the most beautiful thing in this world.
Does your material feature any collaborations?
We’ve hired a group of session players for this album. We wanted to record it live. I think we can tell that it sounds played. We don’t want to do it out of opportunism. We want these collabs relevant and useful for the song.
What techniques do you experiment with to get your original sound?
Listening to as much music as you can.
Take us through a day in the recording studio.
We bike for two minutes (the studio is 6 blocks away from our house), get into the studio, make coffee, sit behind our instruments, and start recording. We’ve lucky to own our studio. It’s plug and play. We’re always ready to record the sounds that come off from our heads. I think it’s very precious and we are grateful to be able to do that 24/7.
Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “this is what I want to do”?
Since we were born. We all have parents with musical backgrounds
What do you keep close by while you’re playing a set?
Play hard and strong all the way
Any emerging artists on your radar?
Valence – The next big/good thing that will come from Quebec city.
What gets your creative juices flowing?
Working and talking with other artists. Exchange. Make love. The basis!
Take us through your collection of gear, tech or software that accompanies your creative expression.
I don’t know if I want to be geeky – cause It’s kind of boring, no!? – but we renew our stuff constantly. We don’t want to sound identical to our previous albums.
Any side projects you’re working on?
Yes! But cannot tell yet.
How have you refined your craft since you entered the industry?
By discovering new music, recording, playing, traveling, etc. There are as many ways to make music as there are people. Always stay humble and acknowledge that you can learn a lot from others.
Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?
Have you heard about the C****** word? Yep! We don’t know what the future will be for live performance, but we’re trying to stay active even though we can’t play in front of people for now. We stay positive though.
Famous last words?
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” – Leonardo da Vinci (re-appropriated by Steve Jobs)
