Exposing Tehran’s underground techno scene with Raving Iran
Raving Iran is a new documentary film exploring Tehran’s undergroundtechno scene.
Swiss director, Susanne Regina Meures, follows two DJs, Anoosh and Arash, who practice their passion in secrecy for fear of being punished in a country where Western music is restricted. In the film, they organise one last techno rave in the desert, while at the same time risking being caught by the police.
The synopsis for the film goes on to describe how Anoosh is arrested after trying to sell his illegally printed album. However the saving grace amid this endangerment is a phone call from the biggest techno festival in the world. Once Anoosh and Arash land in Switzerland the seriousness of their situation dawns on them as the trailer shows the emotional whiplash they face after following their dreams.
The documentary has no cinema release dates yet however it is being toured at a number of film festivals.
