Forbes announces that Katy Perry is the highest-paid woman in music for 2018
Katy Perry has been named by Forbes as 2018’s Highest Paid Woman In Music. The acclaimed business publication has estimated that between June 2017 and June 2018, the 34-year-old pop-star earned the equivalent of £64.7 million. Last year saw Beyoncé at the top of the list, but Perry has usurped Queen B, as it were, and Mrs Knowles-Carter now finds herself in third place, with Taylor Swift moving up into second. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé earned £62.4 million and £46.8 million over this last year, respectively.
Although Forbes’ list this year contains many of the same names from 2017, there was one unexpected name amongst the familiar ones, in 8th place, Russian-German star Helene Fischer. Fischer’s music is in the schlager style, a sentimental German pop tradition that can be compared to what we know as mainstream country music; the pop-star has reportedly sold over 15 million albums over the span of her career.
