Indie-electronic duo Maribou State release brand new album and announce massive tour
Written by Maya-Rose Torrão
Maribou State‘s new album ‘Kingdoms In Colour’ has been released via Ninja Tune‘s Counter Records imprint and is the band’s first full-length since their 2015 breakthrough debut album ‘Portraits’. The latest album is inspired by the field recordings they made around the world while travelling and touring ‘Portraits’ and is a “sonic collage“, drawing on ideas and sketches that were written and recorded in places in Asia, Australia, Morocco, America and beyond. You can buy the new album here.
On ‘Kingdoms In Colour’, Liam Ivory of Maribou State reflects that, “The idea with Maribou State was always to draw on influences from different parts of the world … by traveling, sampling, recording, we wanted to create this all encompassing thing. Which is what this second record has ended up being for us“.
The indie-electronic lynchpins will be expanding to a 5-piece band for their upcoming live shows and have added a great deal of dates for their UK tour as well as some additional shows around Europe. This extensive tour comes off the back of a summer spent headlining Sonar by Day in Barcelona, Parklife Festival, Roskilde, Pukkelpop Festival, Nova Batida and closing the second stage at All Points East, playing after Flying Lotus.
