Set the tone for us. Why the arts?
I always loved all the creative areas.. and it’s strange cause I study design, but music has always been a passion.. so here we are, creating jeje
Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?
Most of the time the idea comes to my mind like a sound or phrase, I try to imagine what will catch my attention on a club, a crazy break, a crazy vocal, whatever
Does your material feature any collaborations?
Yes, I love to collaborate in the studio, 2 or 3 brains on the same idea can be powerful. I always made a EP per year with my friend Ramiro Lopez, and we got a plan with Dan (Eats Everything) to join forces in a wicked and weird project
What’s on your current playlist?
Tommy Guerrero, Khruangbin, funky stuff. That’s the music that relaxes me during the week.
Tell us about the chemistry you have with your fans on stage.
I try to make my sets too intense, and I’m a normal guy on socials, people told me I’m funny so maybe is the opposite for a techno DJ, I’m transparent so, people can see me as I am.
What techniques do you experiment with to get your original sound?
Processing, that’s what I do the most, I love sampling and I like to transform something not special into something crazy..
Take us through a day in the recording studio.
First gym, keeps my mind fresh, if I had an idea I go for it, if not I start from the base (kick bass), I try to make stops every hour more or less, doing mails of office stuff.. and also take a walk and start listening from beginning for not getting stuck and keep my ears relaxed
Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “this is what I want to do”?
I never expected to live as a DJ/producer, it was a hobby, but I remember when I was a child raving in a club looking at the DJ and saying: Wow, this guy has the power, looks awesome to do that with music..
What do you keep close by while you’re playing a set?
Melodies.. and tracks that bring memories.. and also tequila after a shot.
Any emerging artists on your radar?
Dave sinner, The Southern, black girl white girl.. wicked producers
What gets your creative juices flowing?
Laughing, travelling and sports
Take us through your collection of gear, tech or software that accompanies your creative expression.
UAD stuff, I’ve been using their plugins and hardware since Too many years.. also I’m a drum machine lover, I got Roland and Elektron machines, and I love them!! About virtual synths, I always use the sylenth1 and native instruments komplete stuff, but I don’t have a specific routine, I let the things flow.
Any side projects you’re working on?
Now I’m really focused on our label alongside Eats Everything called Ei8ht, we got also some ideas for the future, but it’s early to talk about them
How have you refined your craft since you entered the industry?
Music is always changing, and we also, I’ve played too many styles, I consider myself an all-terrain DJ. I started playing trance and hard house on the 90s, now I’m happy to see some of this sounds coming back the cause for me is perfect cause I had a lot of background, but now techno trends are so hard so I try to stay in the good basics, raw, groove and unexpected
Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?
Being in good festivals sharing Madness, releasing in some good labels, and wicked music (I wish jeje)
Famous last words?
Coño a la plancha (laughs) no se me mueran nunca
