Mount Kimbie installation sends giant baubles “flying” through London

Mount Kimbie’s Kai Campos was left “heartbroken” after a large-scale installation put up in conjunction with the band’s new album was blown down by Storm Claudio. Composed of four massive silver baubles, the components of the installation could be seen “flying” down Tottenham Court Road in London on Monday evening.

Designed by artist Tom Shannon, the public art installation coincides with Mount Kimbie’s latest release, MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning, and was intended to remain on display in St Giles Square until Saturday.

“Seeing it completed on Sunday night was one of the most exciting things I’ve been involved with. The fact that it was so out in the open and public was one of the best parts of the work and when seeing the joy and intrigue it brought to everyone who walked through the square.” Campos said in a statement. “I’m absolutely gutted that more people won’t get to see it this week.”
