Netflix releases new series about the creation of Spotify

A new series based on the founding of Spotify has arrived on Netflix. The Playlist is a fictionalised drama about the creation of the music streaming titan, based on the 2021 book Spotify Untold by Swedish journalists Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.

The limited series is split into six parts of 45 minute episodes. The Playlist covers everything from the conception of Spotify to some of the legal issues the company has faced, as well as the impact the service has had on the lives of artists in the music industry. 

Edvin Endre plays Spotify CEO and founder Daniel Ek, joined by a cast including Swedish singer Janice Kamya Kavander, Ulf Stenberg, Joel Lützow, Gizem Erdogan, and Christian Hillborg. The full series is available to stream now via Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
