News: Music Producer & Convicted Murderer Phil Spector Has Died
Phil Spector, a man who was once considered the most influential artists and producers in the music industry for decades, has died.
California Health Care Facility inmate Phillip Spector was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital. His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
Spector was arguably known as one of the best producers in the industry in the 60’s and 70’s, who was sought after by almost every artist at the time. Aside from his own solo music, he is best known for working with The Beatles, John Lennon and many more iconic figures with many at the time stating Spector as a huge influence on their music due to his wall of sound technique.
Unfortunately, he had a past history of domestic abuse and claims of assault, eventually leading up to the murder of Lana Clarkson, whom he shot and killed in his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003. He claimed that her death was an “accidental suicide” and that she “kissed the gun”.
However, his driver stated that Spector told him “I think I’ve killed somebody.” He was convicted of second degree murder in 2009 for the death of Lana Clarkson. Clarkson was also a model, and best known for her prominent roles in sword-and-sworcery films in the 1980’s. Later on, more women came forward stating that Spector had threatened them with a gun when they refused his advances.
While serving time for the murder of Lana Clarkson, Spector died on Saturday (January 16th) with his cause of death allegedly attributed to complications from Covid-19. He was diagnosed in December, but reportedly was rushed back to hospital with returning symptoms in which he had trouble breathing. He was 81 years old.
