According to a report by Deadline, well-known UK DJ Paul Oakenfold has been accused of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed by his former personal assistant. The lawsuit was filed on June 2nd at the Los Angeles Superior Court by a 24-year-old woman who used to work for New Frequency Management, the company that manages Oakenfold. The woman, identified as Jane Roe, is suing Oakenfold, two companies associated with him, and several unnamed individuals for damages related to employment rights violation and alleged sexual harassment.
According to the lawsuit, Jane Roe became Oakenfold’s personal assistant shortly after starting her job at the management company in October 2022, when she was 23 years old. The suit claims that Oakenfold exposed himself and masturbated in front of her on multiple occasions, including their first day working together alone at his home. It is also alleged that he did so four times in one day during a specific date in November 2022 and once in the passenger seat of her car. The full details of the lawsuit can be found in the court filing.
The woman reported the incidents to Paul Stepanek, the CEO of New Frequency Management, and was allegedly asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) as a result. She claims that she was prevented from returning to work until she signed the NDA under pressure. After returning to work, she was no longer assigned to work with Oakenfold and her working hours were significantly reduced. Her employment ultimately ended in March 2023, citing a “lack of work.”
Jane Roe is suing for wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, and failure to prevent harassment. There have been no comments from Oakenfold or his representatives on the matter yet.
