Phonox Nightclub Announces Resident DJ And First Line Up
Phonox, London’s newest nightclub, has just announced its first lot of bookings.
The club will open September 4 with a back-to-back set from Polish duo Ptaki and Julio Bashmore. The Launch Party will take place the following night, however the line up for this remains unknown.
Following that, the Friday night slot will see sets from Gilles Peterson, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, The Bug B2B Loefah, DJ Sneak, Zomby V Actress, Future Brown, Livity Sound’s Kowton B2B Peverelist B2B Tessela, Benji B B2B Jon K and Horse Meat Disco.
In addition to the first names on the bill, Phonox has also unveiled the name of their resident. Glasgow DJ, producer and the youngest person to ever play at Sub Club, Jasper James, will be taking the reigns for the foreseeable future. “We’ve deliberately chosen someone who isn’t the biggest name, but is an incredibly special DJ,” says Andy Peyton, director of Phonox.
James, told RA: “It’s an absolutely amazing opportunity which I’m extremely excited about. But at the same time I’m nervous and realise how big a responsibility it is to be playing in the same club week in and week out, keeping it fresh and interesting for the punters and regulars. I have watched my dad and people like Optimo do it in the Sub Club every week. They’ve set the standard.”
“There’s no end date to his residency, and though there’ll be guests, they’ll never be announced” says the Colombo Group.
