EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: KKiNG KONG’S ENCHUFADA MIX
Lisbon born KKiNG KONG (real name Pedro Mauricio) debut EP, Damaia, is named after his hometown, and presents his take on the kuduro, kizomba, and moombahton beats of his native land. The four-track EP takes direct inspiration from growing up in the Portuguese suburbs, “from sharing 40oz beers with friends on a park bench in Alfragide, listening to techno blaring from pimped-out cars at the 6 de Maio projects, and getting my New York Yankees cap stolen on the first day of school.”
Even though he still has to ‘cut his teeth’ on the international scene, KKiNG KONG has been steadily making waves in the Lisbon scene via his lively club hooks and inventive edits, and with Damaia, his his reputation is set to rise, as is the capital’s as the new unofficial clubbing mecca.
Here’s what KONG had to say on the experience of making his latest exclusive mix especially for us:
“When I was told to made this mix, the first thing I had in mind was to make it with some of my favourite tracks from my friends. That’s why the track-list is almost filled with Enchufada releases and my entire EP, these 40 minutes are a small treat regarding the Lisbon sound and all the musicians that work with Enchufada.”
