Set the tone for us. Why the arts?
I didn’t choose the arts, they chose me. My hobby became a job and I was never going to resist that. It’s been a wonderfully symbiotic journey, not without challenges of course but I love electronic music and the culture that surrounds it.
Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?
Both are true in my case. I’ve even started tracks with a clear idea and intention but got sidetracked by a renegade sound that stole the show and redirected the whole song.
What’s on your current playlist?
Been thoroughly enjoying playing as much of my own music as possible of late but some favorites include Sphera, Talpa, Freedom Fighters, Basscannon, Synthatic and Shanti vs Deedrah.
Tell us about the chemistry you have with your fans on stage.
For a long time now I’ve made it a priority to connect with people while performing. I really enjoy playing and always do my best to show it. My questionable dance moves, silly nature and high energy usually spark up some strong chemistry.
How are you prepping for your set at TIMELESS fest?
Yoga 4 times a week. Jokes! I’m in the studio grinding to wrap some new music and of course hunting down the best unreleased goodies I can.
Which of your songs should festival goers put on their ‘TIMELESS’ playlist?
‘Release The Karen’.
Imagine you’re a festival goer. Do you rough it in a tent or glamp in luxury?
Under the age of 30, rough it. Over 30, glamp it.
What one thing MUST you absolutely have with you on stage?
Sweat towel!
Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?
I’m on a mission to release at least six tracks this year, which I am well on track for. Two are out already and the next is scheduled up for April 1st. I’m touring Europe in March and even zipping over to Brazil straight after. Then another couple more Brazil gigs, followed by Europe again in their summer season. Of course I’ll be performing in SA whenever I get an opportunity to do so.
Famous last words?
One more and then we’ll go to bed.
