Set the tone for us. Why the arts?
It started from a very young age with a vibrant Scottish family. I was brought up with music being a very big part of our lives, as my father was in a band in his younger years. As I grew older and started attending events and gatherings I felt a draw towards electronic music and seeing how an artist entertained an audience, it was then clear I knew I had to learn how to do this. Music has always been a very big passion of mine, and being able to share this passion to a dance floor – I don’t think there is a better feeling in the world.
Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?
At this stage in my career I am only a DJ, and producing is something I still need to embark on. However to answer this question I think it is still relevant for both sides. When I am booked for an event I take the name, the venue and whether it’s indoors in a club or an open air festival into account. I visualize the event in my mind and try to come up with an atmosphere I would like to create for that particular environment. So I think it would be safe to say for me it would have to be the idea.
What’s on your current playlist?
Static Movement, Intervoid, Elijix, Spacevoid, Shaki, Invasion, Groundbass, Mind Void, and Tijah.
Tell us about the chemistry you have with your fans on stage.
When I get up on stage I have a job to do. My intention is to give the best version of myself by telling my story through music. There is no better feeling than the energy coming from your audience. I feed on that. My fans don’t want a top 100 set. They want to be guided on a journey they have never been on before. Using this energy I feel that it keeps them focused and when they realise they are playing a big role in the outcome of my performance you are guaranteed to have their attention.
How are you prepping for your set at TIMELESS fest?
The big advantage I think I have is playing in my hometown. I know what my fans expect of me. So to not give too much away they should be very excited.
Which of your songs should festival goers put on their ‘TIMELESS’ playlist?
I would highly recommend they go check out my Soundcloud page. I have recently uploaded a few live recordings of my previous performances.
Imagine you’re a festival goer. Do you rough it in a tent or glamp in luxury?
Good question, hehe. Nothing beats a good camp out in a tent, but I find that the older I’m getting, I wouldn’t say no to some luxury, haha.
What one thing MUST you absolutely have with you on stage?
Okay, so don’t laugh right but I burn incense while performing. There is something about my particular favourites and their smells that helps with my concentration. Really gets me in the zone and my surroundings. Weird, I know.
Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?
All I can say is put the phone away and get ready to lose yourself in the music. I’m bringing a foot tapping, high energy and very up for it set that you are never going to forget!
Famous last words?
Yesterday is in the past, tomorrow is not confirmed so give today your all and live like it’s your last!
