Q+A: 5 minutes with Parra for Cuva

Time and experience shape ambitious young musicians into established professionals. This remains true for today’s guest, a German producer by the name of Parra for Cuva. Having grown from roots in Classical piano and Jazz, two technically-challenging disciplines in and of themselves, Nicolas strives to master the nuances of his craft, using his extensive knowledge of various sound design techniques to sculpt his signature brand of melodious Electronic music that is, in one word, elegant.

Having previously graced stages in Italy, Hungary, and the USA to name a handful, Parra for Cuva is no stranger to travelling for shows. But his next international show is a first! He will be making his live performance debut in South Africa at TIMELESS Festival in March. And with the festival just around the corner, we had a chat with the producer.

Let’s get this show on the road:

Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?

The sound always comes first. I often have ideas in my head but in the end, it’s very hard to match it the same way it sounded in my head. A strange or interesting sound can be the spark of something beautiful.

What’s on your current playlist?

Il:lo, Henry Green,  Benjamin Amaru, orbit, Zimmer90.

Tell us about the chemistry you have with your fans on stage.

I hope I can create a connection by giving my best during the performance. I hope that everybody feels the music the same way I feel it and dances to it.

How are you prepping for your set at TIMELESS fest?

I am in Italy right now looking at the sea. I will prepare my Liveset for TIMELESS here and hope to get some inspiration.

Which of your songs should festival-goers put on their ‘TIMELESS’ playlist?

‘Cupa Cupa’

With so many exciting acts performing at TIMELESS festival, who are you most excited to see?

Tycho.

Imagine you’re a festival goer. Do you rough it in a tent or glamp in luxury?

I always went with my crappy camper van, so it’s a bit of both I guess.

What one thing MUST you absolutely have with you on stage?

I start to sweat quickly because of dancing so a towel is a must have.

Break down the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?

A piano EP and hopefully a new Album (fingers crossed).

Famous last words?

Tschös!
