REVIEW: BOBBY TANK FEAT. LUCA FRANCO – CATALYZE
The under-rated U.K based producer Bobby Tank has a sound that’s uniquely his own… and yet has also been compared to highly-esteemed ‘maximalist’ producers like Rustie and Hudson Mohawke. Incorporating bits of Jersey Club, Electro, Funk, and Glitch, Bobby’s productions are as deep and intense as they are low-key — with bright rushes of sparkling synth, colliding with breezy melodies and heavy, quick fire percussion.
For his latest single, there’s a definite mood of dreamy nostalgia and splashes of fluorescent tones, that reach the heights of the same complexely structured production that’s on releases like ‘Lost Raven’ and ‘Undone.’ Tank also manages to surpass them on this one – for this reason, it is undoubtedly one of the freshest offerings to hit the digital market in a while.
With alternative multi-instrumentalist Luca Franco providing his soulful, vocal stylings to the equation, ‘Catalyze’ incorporates a myriad of influences and nostalgic nods. This is perhaps the making of Bobby Tank, placing him in the more commercial sphere of dance music right now – he’s certainly on our radar as ‘one to watch.’
‘Catalyze’ is out now on MOFOHIFI.
