Jayda G – Circle Back Around

The first single from her freshly announced new album Guy sees producer Jayda G evolve her classic Chicago house sound toward energetic and buoyant eurohouse. The influence of her adopted home London is palpable in the track’s melodic techno bass and languid vocals, set against driving percussion and home-movie voice clips of her late father and subject of her sophomore album, Guy. 

NOIA, Ela Minus – didn’t know 

Brooklyn by way of Barcelona producer NOIA enlists the spectral vocals of Columbia’s Ela Minus on a track she calls “my Prince song; it’s definitely a hot pink song.” Somewhere between future bass and neon synthpop, didn’t know contrasts airy, ethereal vocals with a trap-laden syncopated beat and gurning, grime soaked bass.

100 Gecs – Hollywood Baby

A staple on 100 Gecs’s live setlist since 2021, the electropunk track Hollywood Baby receives single treatment as the latest to be shared off the duo’s anticipated album, 10,000 Gecs. Recalling the tweenage whining of pop-punk outfits like Blink 182 and the jaded LA thematics of Good Charlotte, Hollywood Baby is another rowdy entry that extends 100 Gecs’s assault on pop and contemporary culture, accented with a video that sees them ignite fireworks inside an apartment. 

Skrillex, Missy Elliot, Mr. Oizo – Ratata

Pulling from the insectoid synths of J’lin’s brand of footwork, 90’s hip-hop, and 2000’s bass, Skrillex pulls of a hattrick by enlisting Missy Elliot to add the perfect dose of future nostalgia to a track that’s rooted in the obnoxious party sounds of two decades ago. Ratata is an addictive ride, though it’s far too short lived to feel like a fully satisfying trip down memory lane, or into the not so distant future.
