Roundup, July #3
We roundup our picks for the must hear releases of the week. Listen to our selections below.
Hudson Mohawke, Tiga, Channel Tres – Feel The Rush
Channel Tres lends his smooth vocals as producer Hudson Mohawke adds to his recent string of collaborations. This time with Tiga, Mohawke delivers an uncharacteristically subdued minimal house track. Sparse and punchy, Feel The Rush is the chicest we’ve ever heard HudMo.
Thor Rixon, Yoshe – Romancin
Berlin by way of Cape Town producer Thor Rixon teams up with South African vocalist Yoshe for this sweaty, sunset blazed summer house banger. Romancin feels as effortless as it does painfully cool. This one is designed for poolside cocktails or late summer rooftops.
COUCOU CHLOE – DRIFT
The latest from COUCOU CHLOE is the French producer doing what she does best. Not dissimilar to the addictive headrush of WIZZ, DRIFT is a sequel of sorts with CHLOE’s intoxicated vocals spilling over icy claps and throbbing, mind bending bass.
Hannah Diamond – Affirmations
The latest single from one of PC Music’s original popstar art projects comes on the cusp of the collective’s announcement that they will soon stop releasing new material. In this sense, Affirmations is a bit of a full circle moment. A shimmery and saccharine bubblegum pop anthem, Affirmations sees Diamond preach about loving herself – a satisfying conclusion to the beginning of her journey as a hyper self-aware and insecure android.
Dorian Electra – anon
The latest single from Electra’s recently announced upcoming album is possibly the strongest to come out of the project thus far. However, anon keeps the pop jester locked into a sort of manic and verbose hyperpop / electropunk pastiche that at times feels far too busy and unfocussed.
