Welcome to the second half of 2022. Congrats, we made it! Going into the end of the second quarter of the year, there’s a ton of amazing new music to look forward to. This week, we roundup our favourite new releases from VTSS going pop to Vladislav Delay’s latest industrial noise. Listen below.

VTSS – Make You Scream
On her latest single, techno’s current It girl VTSS pivots toward pop. It was inevitable, there’s always been a poppy sensibility about her, and Make You Scream is the result of embracing those instincts. A buzzing techno cut with lashings of electroclash and dark wave synthpop, Make You Scream takes VTSS away from her more ambiguous tecno formulations toward something more structured, but it’s a leap in the right direction. Still soaked in the grit of the underground, Make You Scream’s ever so slight mainstream inclination is an exciting step toward VTSS’s final form. Now give us an extended intro, queen!
Honey Dijon, Ramona Renae – Love Is A State Of Mind
Honey Dijon’s greatest skill is her incredibly detailed knowledge of house music. It’s an education that allows her to play and reshape the conventions of the genre, creating something classic that sounds incredibly fresh. On her latest single with Ramona Renae, she creates diva house with harder edges. Under Renae’s smooth R&B vocals, Dijon creates a propulsive soundscape accented with pounding, minor key piano chords and chugging sub-bass.
Ejeca – Modea
Ejeca’s new mixtape is a tribute to French touch, and single Modea is French house at its most classic. Opening with an 80’s pop intro, Ejeca adds a thumping four on the floor to a grooving funk guitar riff, filling the space with touches of Italo and soulful vocal touches. The upcoming mixtape is the second in a series paying homage to influential dance music styles, and follows last year’s HARDCORE RAVE / MIXTAPE.
Vladislav Delay – Isonuha
Sasu Ripatti returns to his Vladislav Delay alias on an upcoming EP exploring the experience of returning to the urban landscape of the city after living in the wilderness. In response to this concept, Ripatti has crafted 13 tracks of industrial noise and drone experiments. Isonhua is an ominous and shuddering piece of ambience, phasing through passages of looped machine sounds and massive, industrial clutter. The experience is aptly overwhelming, a consuming barrage of urban dissonance that is both monstrous and strangely hypnotic.
