Bonobo – Defender

On this year’s Fragments, British electronic musician Bonobo expanded his palette beyond slow burning, emotional trip-hop toward the dancefloor. His latest single Defender blends the two sides of the artist. A textured deep house cut, Defender brims with the sort of sentimentality Bonobo knows best, while staying kinetic through earthy drums and arping analog synths.

Kelela – Happy Ending

Produced by LSDXOXO and Bambii, the second single from singer-songwriter Kelela this year is a breakbeat laced love song that plays out in the middle of a rave. Oozing her lush vocals over a racing backdrop, Kelela sings an ode to the rush of finding romance on the dancefloor.

Orbital – Dirty Rat

The return of British rave icons Orbital with a single screaming ‘this is espionage, and you’re the self-saboteur’ feels pretty timeous given the circumstances. Dirty Rat is an old-school techno stomper, full of rage and frustration that throws it all the way back to the disenfranchised energy of 90’s British youth.

Brooke Candy, OnlyFire – Yoga

Brooke Candy and OnlyFire make such sleazy, sleazy sense together, you have to wonder why Yoga hasn’t happened sooner. The track is, as expected, pure filth and a ton of raucous fun. Featuring OnlyFire’s signature AI-generated vocals on the hook, Yoga bends and snaps with rubbery synths and a pounding four-on-the-floor.
