Samantha Togni launches Boudica label focussing on LGBTQIA+ and female artists
London based DJ and promoter Samantha Togni has launched a vinyl label showcasing trans, queer, non-binary, and female musicians under the Boudica name. Togni launched Boudica as a party series before transitioning to a music conference in 2020 with panel discussions and conversations around important issues in the electronic music industry, namely gender disparity and lack of representation. This year sees the return of the conference with eight panels at London’s Freemasons Hall in August. The conference will feature a number of orgnaisations leading the charge for LGBTQIA+ and female representation in the UK, including Featured Artist Coalition, Music Manager Forum, Musicians Union, and will be live-streamed free of charge on August 21. Tickets for the conference are available via Resident Advisor.
To mark the launch of the Boudica label, the imprint will release its first compilation on July 25th with huge hard techno contributions from Togni, Wanton Witch, Femanyst & Nur Jaber. In a statement from the label, Boudica elaborated on the compilation: “The artists chosen for the [release] perfectly symbolise Boudica’s vision: without boundaries and fearlessly experimental.”
The first single taken from the upcoming release is Togni’s Pure Bones featuring Alejandra Muñoz. Listen to the track below and pre-order the compilation here.
