SBTRKT, Sampha, George Riley – L.F.O
SBTRKT and Sampha go way back. The English producer and South London songwriter have a history that extends over a decade back, with Sampha serving as a particularly essential presence on SBTRKT’s eponymous debut album twelve years ago. The collaborators reunite on L.F.O, the latest single from SBTRKT’s upcoming album The Rat Road.
L.F.O is a fractured experimental R&B track that sees Sampha and singer George Riley trade verses over a scattered melange of icy minimal trap synths that swell into phrases of motorised funk and soul, all filtered through the abstract programme of SBTRKT’s mind. It shares a similar lo-fi bloghouse aesthetic to previous single Days Go By, but with an unmistakable R&B style that is pushed to the fringes by SBTRKT’s futurist approach to structure.
