Patrick Holland | Up To You (single) | Verdicchio Music Publishing
Release Date: 10 January, 2020
Patrick Holland has built a distinct name for himself with his eclectic musical personality; with his significantly enthusiastic and experimental approach to left-field electronics, the Vancouver-born, Montreal-based musician, DJ and producer’s eagerness to push the boundaries of genre, while still presenting a uniquely-his catalogue of sounds. Holland, who has released a multitude of works under various aliases – most notably known under his solo moniker Project Pablo – has ditched the byname for his latest single release ‘Up To You’, following his 2019 Project Pablo album entitled ‘Inside Unsolved’. ‘Up To You’ is the first release by Holland under his real name – while still retaining elements of his much loved aliases, the musician is able to keep his sound new and fresh.
‘Up To You‘ opens with a glimmering emotive hook; a delicate beat cradling the bassline as it progressively blooms with a danceable confidence – the intricate braid of resonant effects adding a lyrical depth to the atmosphere. Sprouting an organic feeling, the melodic pattern prevalent from the introduction creates a trance-like repetition as washes of glittering harmonies sweep across the soundscape. The gradual segue in tempo as tender synths and vocal samples dot the upbeat, lighthearted aura allows for a joyful dance-floor ready track; maintaining a feeling of sentimentality and substance.
