Frankfurt is set to open a new museum of electronic music in October. The Museum of Modern Electronic Music, or MOMEM, will be a space that honours the history of electronic music while looking ahead towards its future. MOMEM is planned to feature several sections which cover everything from the spaces, social contexts and instruments that gave rise to various genres such as house, techno, drum & bass, and ambient as well as the impact these forms have had on the worlds of fashion, technology and art.
Most of the museum’s exhibits will feature high-tech interactive experiences and an immersive approach. The exhibits are carefully curated to focus on the most iconic moments in electronic music history and will combine archival pieces such as flyers, logos, artworks and photography. The space will also welcome temporary exhibits on selected clubs, genres or labels.
While an official opening date for MOMEM has not yet been announced, the museum has been in the works since 2011. You can find out more about the space via their website, and watch a video about MOMEM below. You will also be able to donate to the museum via their website.
