Two world-class remixes drop today: Ross From Friends remixes Thundercat & Adesse Versions remixes Maribou State
Today is an extra-special Wednesday, because we are lucky enough that two fire remixes have dropped at the same time, the first being fan-favourite Ross From Friend’s remix of genre-crossing legend Thundercat’s ‘Friend Zone’ and the second, the mysterious and talented Adesse Versions’ remix of electro-indie royalty Maribou State’s ‘Kingdom (Feat. North Downs)’.
The remix of Thundercat’s ‘Friend Zone’ is taken from the forthcoming ‘Brainfeeder X’ compilation release which is out on Friday this week and is a quirky take on the RnB-infused original. The new compilation from Brainfeeder is a 36 track album that celebrates 10 years of fearless output by the iconic record label; beautiful 4LP vinyl box set designed by Charles Munka (creator of the original Brainfeeder logo) will be available, as well as CD and digital formats. Thundercat and Ross from Friends will both be performing at the third and final showcase of the ‘Brainfeeder X’ tour, at Brixton Academy on Saturday 15th December.
The Adesse Versions remix of ‘Kingdom (Feat. North Downs)’ follows on from Maribou State’s sharing of a steady stream of top quality remixes from the likes of Maceo Plex and DJ Tennis. The duo have already sold out their their Brixton Academy date next March. Adesse Versions’ remix brings an infectious flow to Maribou State’s ‘Kingdom (Feat. North Downs)’, infusing the piece with a classic dance sound, while still staying true to the mood created in the original.
