Ultrademon Preps New Album ‘Durian Rider’ For November Release
Chicago’s Ultrademon (aka Albert Redwine) has announced the release of his new album Durian Rider on November 27th via The Playground Records.
Early reports suggest the album draws on a wide range of influences from footwork, dubstep and synthpop to R&B, house and techno – by turns echoing Grimes, Zomby, Arca and FKA Twigs. In additional to his musical endeavours, Redwine was one of the guiding lights behind the short lived but influential ‘seapunk’ movement, which gained mainstream attention when Rihanna appropriated the aesthetic for an appearance on long-running US TV show Saturday Night Live (which effectively ended the movement).
Ever the restless imagineer, Redwine likens his music to “Dark nights, dusky maidens, future raves, full moon beach parties, desert stars, vine hung horizons, industrial wastelands, cyberspace DJs, mecha demon magic, ethnobotanical basslines, dark crystal messiahs, teen anime love stories, stinging auras, fungal fantasy house, nautical elves, and voidic charms.”
