VJ Jaxson unveils luscious and diverse EP ‘Changes’

Exciting up-and-coming Irish talent and multi-instrumentalist VJ Jaxson has unveiled his highly-anticipated forthcoming EP Changes, released on the 25th August. The album follows the release of his anthemic lead single, Waiting On The Day’. Emerging from Tallaght, Dublin, Ireland, VJ has established himself as a force to be reckoned with, with a powerful and transportive artistry framed by an unyielding determination to unleash his talents upon the world.

Jaxson’s second EP is a phantasmal blend of pop, rap, and rock, featuring washed out-guitars, booming 808’s and soulful synth progressions. Diverse, emotional and introspective, it’s a defiant act of personal expression, as Jaxson digs deep, wearing his heart on his sleeve, imparting his experiences and emotions onto the listener. Its sentimental and growth orientated theme is sure to strike an emotional chord with most, and the production and vocal delivery are crisp and tight. It’s a modern record, with enough edge to be unique while still maintaining mainstream sensibilities. Dancing between vulnerable, introspective, melancholic, energetic, and playful, Jaxon demonstrates his mastery in fusing and blending genres to create his own sound.

The focus track Waiting On The Dayis infectious and relatable. With its jangly guitar chords and VJ’s subtly autotuned voice emitting a distinct warmth, we’re also treated to an anthemic-rock chorus. Exploring the topics of metamorphosis and everyday monotony, VJ sings about chasing his dreams, holding on tight to something he cant see, and finding the strength to keep searching when times get tough.

Overall, it sounds incredibly professional, and demands your attention, with a real lack of fillers on the record. And with a powerful voice, authentic songwriting and a combination of emotive melodies, akin to the likes of 6LACK and Kid Laroi, the finished product is polished and entrancing.
