Watch Patrick Higgins and Nicolas Jaar perform live as duo AEAEA

A live performance by American avant-garde composer Patrick Higgins in collaboration with Chilean-American producer Nicolas Jaar has premiered online. The performance was originally recorded in 2019 where the two played a set as the duo AEAEA as a part of the Le Guess Who? Festival, which Higgins had curated that year. This is the first time a recording of AEAEA performing live has been published.
During the performance, the two visionaries process each other’s instruments and sounds in real time via computers. Together, they create a disparate and at times haunting musical dialogue between each other, a conversation spoken in organic instruments and electronic sounds.
The set has been made available to view online as part of Le Guess Who? Festival’s archive. The 2021 edition of the boundary pushing festival which promotes experimental artists and cross-medium collaboration will take place in November this year. You can find out more about Le Guess Who?
